John Deere 1058.04 – CCU, XSC, XSA, or XMC: Trailer brake pressure sensor circuit fault / Air Trailer Pre-Brake Pressure Sensor Voltage Low

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the air brake pressure sensor/switch that is below the normal operating range, or the circuit is shorted to a low source (ground). When this fault is active, the system registers insufficient pressure to disengage the air trailer brakes, and as a safety response, the trailer brakes are disabled.

   Cycle the key switch (power down the tractor and restart the engine) to see if the code clears and vehicle recovery is possible

   Allow the system more time at startup to build sufficient air pressure

   Inspect the air pressure system (hoses, connections, and fittings) for physical leaks causing pressure loss

   Ensure the air compressor is functioning properly and capable of building up the required pressure

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the air brake pressure sensor for corroded pins, chafed wires shorting to the chassis (ground), or an unplugged connector

   Relieve Pressure

   Before disconnecting any pneumatic components, turn off the engine and safely relieve the air pressure from the brake system to avoid injury.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to ground or damaged wiring in the sensor harness, repair the affected section of the harness or replace the connector pigtail.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring is intact, the compressor builds pressure, but the sensor still outputs low voltage, the sensor itself has failed internally. Disconnect the electrical harness, unscrew the faulty air brake pressure sensor from the manifold, and install the new sensor (ensure the O-ring is properly seated).

   Clear and Test

   Reconnect the harness, start the tractor, and allow the air system to build pressure. Verify that the 001058.04 code changes from 'Active' to 'Stored' and clear it from the CommandCenter. Test the air brake system under various conditions to ensure the trailer brakes engage and disengage properly.
