Issue description

The system detects an abnormal reading from the air brake pressure switch/sensor. This code triggers when the switch fails to activate properly or when the system detects an open circuit/abnormal voltage indicating a fault in monitoring the air brake pressure.

Check the cause

  1. Allow system to build pressure: If the issue occurs at startup, allow over 1 minute for the air system to build sufficient pressure before moving the vehicle

  2. Bleed the system: Bleed excess moisture from the air brake reservoir and system, as water buildup can cause erratic sensor readings

  3. Pressure system check: Inspect the air pressure system for leaks or signs of wear, paying special attention to air hoses, connections, and fittings

  4. Test the air compressor: Ensure that the air compressor is functioning properly and is capable of building up the required pressure

  5. Inspect the air brake pressure switch/sensor: Check the sensor and its wiring harness for an open circuit, a short to high voltage, or a disconnected sensor plug

  6. Verify CCU configuration: If an air compressor or air brake system was recently installed aftermarket, ensure the CCU is programmed correctly (e.g., CCU address 114 may need to be changed from 0 to 2)

Repair steps

  1. Safely Park the Machine

    Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

  2. Drain Air Tanks

    Locate the air brake reservoir tanks and open the drain valves to bleed out all air pressure and accumulated moisture. Close the valves once drained.

  3. Locate the Sensor

    Locate the Air Brake Pressure Switch/Sensor (typically mounted on the air brake pressure control valve manifold or the air tank).

  4. Inspect Wiring

    Disconnect the sensor connector. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or damage. Test the wiring harness back to the CCU for continuity.

  5. Replace the Sensor

    If the wiring is intact but the sensor fails to close/open at the appropriate pressure levels, unthread the faulty sensor.

  6. Install New Sensor

    Install the new air brake pressure sensor. Ensure the correct O-ring (e.g., 11.30 x 2.20 mm) is used and seated properly to prevent air leaks.

  7. Reassemble and Clear Codes

    Reconnect the wiring harness. Turn the key switch on and use the CommandCenter or a diagnostic tool to clear the CCU 001058.16 fault code.

  8. System Testing

    Start the tractor and allow the air compressor to build pressure. Test the air brake system under various conditions to ensure it consistently meets safety and performance standards and that the code does not return.
