000107.00

John Deere 000107.00 – ECU / CCU: Engine Air Filter Blocked

Issue description

The air filter restriction sensor has detected an excessive pressure difference across the engine air filter, indicating that the filter is clogged with dust, dirt, or other debris. This restriction impedes the flow of clean air to the engine, disrupting the fuel-to-air ratio and leading to decreased engine power and efficiency. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) or Chassis Control Unit (CCU) may actively limit engine power to prevent potential damage when this fault is logged. A warning light on the dashboard will typically illuminate, and on some models, an audible alarm will sound periodically.

Check the cause

  1. Examine the air filter housing for any visible signs of damage or loose connections

  2. Inspect the air intake system for any large debris that might be causing a blockage before the filter

  3. Review the machine's service history to determine when the air filters were last replaced, as they may have reached the end of their service life

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Air Filter Housing

The air filter housing is typically a large plastic or metal canister connected to the engine's air intake.

  2. Open the Housing

Unfasten the spring clips or clamps that secure the cover of the air filter housing.

  3. Remove the Primary Air Filter

Grasp the handle of the primary air filter and pull it out of the housing.

  4. Clean the Housing

Use a damp cloth to wipe any dust and debris from the inside of the filter housing and its cover.

  5. Remove the Secondary Air Filter (if applicable)

If it is time to replace the secondary filter, pull it out by its handle. It is important not to attempt to clean the secondary filter; it should always be replaced.

  6. Install the New Secondary Air Filter

Insert the new secondary filter, ensuring it is properly seated and sealed within the housing.

  7. Install the New Primary Air Filter

Slide the new primary air filter into the housing until it is securely in place.

  8. Secure the Housing Cover

Reinstall the cover and fasten the clips or clamps.

  9. Clear the Fault Code

After replacing the filters, start the engine and check if the fault code and warning light have cleared. If the code persists, there may be an issue with the restriction sensor or its wiring, and further diagnosis by a John Deere dealer may be required.
