1075.09

John Deere 1075.09 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Low-Pressure Fuel Pump Loss of Communication / CAN Bus Message Cannot Be Received, Information from Fuel Pump

Issue description

This code indicates a data transfer problem between the Engine Control Unit (ECU) and the electric low-pressure fuel pump. The ECU is failing to receive CAN Bus messages from the fuel pump. As a reaction to this communication loss, the ECU may limit engine performance (derate) or shut down the engine to prevent potential damage due to improper fuel delivery.

Check the cause

  1. Check for other active DTCs and resolve them first, as they may cause a cascading communication failure.

  2. Inspect the CAN Bus wiring harness and connectors between the ECU and the fuel pump for frayed wires, damaged insulation, corrosion, or loose connections.

  3. Use a multimeter to monitor the voltage at the fuel pump connector (ensure voltage is above 8V).

  4. Check for sources of electromagnetic interference affecting the CAN Bus signals.

  5. Use John Deere Service ADVISOR or a compatible diagnostic tool to verify CAN Bus communication integrity and check for data transmission on CAN High and CAN Low lines.

Repair steps

  1. Address Wiring Issues

If the diagnostic checks reveal damaged wiring or connectors, repair or replace the faulty components in the CAN Bus network. (A jumper harness is often used to correct wiring faults at the pump).

  2. Replace the Fuel Pump

If the wiring, voltage, and CAN lines test good but the pump still fails to communicate with the ECU, the internal module of the electric low-pressure fuel pump has failed. Replace the fuel pump assembly.

  3. Test Fuel Pump Communication

After repairs or replacement, turn the ignition key on and test the fuel pump to ensure it communicates correctly with the ECU and that CAN Bus messages are received properly.

  4. Reset ECU

Reset the ECU to clear the 001075.09 error code.

  5. Conduct System Tests

Run the engine and perform system tests to confirm that the data transfer is functioning correctly and the engine does not derate.
