   Inspect the physical area immediately surrounding the Engine ECU for adequate airflow.

   Check for mud, dirt, chaff, or other debris caked on the ECU that could act as an insulator and cause inadequate cooling.

   Verify ambient conditions in the engine compartment to see if it is suffering from abnormally high temperatures due to exhaust leaks or a failing engine cooling system.

   Clean the ECU Housing

   Carefully clean the exterior of the Engine ECU and the surrounding mounting area to restore proper heat dissipation.

   Clear Obstructions

   Remove any blockages in the engine bay that might be restricting ambient airflow over the control units.

   Cycle Power and Retest

   Clear the fault codes and run the machine under normal load to see if the 001136.16 code returns.

   ECU Replacement/Repair

   If the area is clean, airflow is adequate, and the code persists (or escalates to the more severe 1136.00 Stop code), the Engine ECU must be removed and either sent out for remanufacturing/repair or replaced entirely by a John Deere dealer for programming.
