John Deere 1347.05 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Pump Control Valve Current Mismatch / Fuel Pressure Control Valve 1, Resistance Too High

The controller detects an open circuit or abnormally high resistance in the High-Pressure Fuel Pump's Suction Control Valve (SCV) circuit. The controller is unable to match the measured pump current to the commanded pump current, indicating an electrical failure (such as a broken wire, burnt connector pin, or a failed internal coil inside the valve) rather than a mechanical fuel restriction.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the Suction Control Valve (SCV) on the high-pressure fuel pump, looking closely for burnt pins at the SCV connector.

   Use a multimeter to check the circuit for an open wire or a short to ground between the ECU and the SCV.

   Measure the resistance across the pins of the Suction Control Valve itself to determine if the internal solenoid has failed (resistance out of specification or open circuit).

   Access the Fuel Pump

   Locate the high-pressure fuel pump on the engine block. The Suction Control Valve (SCV) is bolted directly to it.

   Address Wiring (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic checks revealed burnt pins inside the connector, splice in a new replacement pigtail harness for the SCV.

   Remove the SCV

   If the valve itself is faulty, unplug the electrical connector. Remove the mounting fasteners securing the SCV to the fuel pump.

   Extract the Valve

   Carefully pull the SCV out of the pump housing. Ensure the old O-rings are removed and do not drop debris into the pump.

   Install the New Valve

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new Suction Control Valve with clean engine oil or diesel fuel. Insert the new valve into the pump and tighten the mounting bolts to the OEM torque specification.

   Reassemble and Test

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position to allow the system to prime, and start the engine. Verify that the 1347.05 code goes inactive and the engine no longer idles roughly or shuts down.
