John Deere 1347.18 – ECU: Suction Control Valve Sticking and Fuel Rail Pressure Slightly Low
Issue description
The engine is detecting that the fuel rail pressure is lower than the threshold defined by the controller. This is primarily caused by the Suction Control Valve (SCV) on the high-pressure fuel pump sticking, which restricts the proper flow and regulation of fuel pressure. When this code is active, the engine will typically enter a power derate condition.

Check the cause
Check the fuel tank level and inspect the fuel filters (a heavily clogged fuel filter or low fuel supply can starve the pump and mimic a sticking valve)
Cycle the ignition and restart the engine to see if the code clears as a nuisance code
Check if the ECU software is up to date (e.g., SW62381E) to prevent nuisance DTCs
Verify the wiring harness to the Suction Control Valve and check for related electrical codes like 001347.06
Repair steps
Service Filters
If fuel filters are due for service or appear contaminated, replace them and bleed the fuel system.
Update Software
If the filters are clean, connect John Deere Service ADVISOR and ensure the ECU is flashed with the latest software payload to rule out false triggers.
Replace the SCV
If the code persists and the engine is actively derating, the Suction Control Valve on the high-pressure fuel pump has mechanically failed (sticking) and must be replaced. Clean the area around the high-pressure fuel pump thoroughly, disconnect the electrical harness, remove the mounting fasteners, and extract the old SCV. Lubricate the O-rings on the new SCV with clean diesel fuel and install it into the pump. Torque fasteners to OEM specifications.
Clear Codes and Test
Reconnect Service ADVISOR, clear the stored 001347.18 and 001569.31 (derate) codes. Operate the engine under load (in the same conditions that originally triggered the fault) to verify the fuel rail pressure is now tracking the commanded pressure and the code does not return.
