John Deere 1348.05 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / A00: Fuel Pump Solenoid 2 Open Circuit / Fuel Pressure Control Valve 2, Resistance Too High

The control unit has detected that the circuit resistance for fuel pump control valve #2 is too high, indicating an open circuit, a short to ground, or an overloaded circuit. This condition prevents the valve from operating correctly, which directly affects the high-pressure fuel pump's ability to regulate fuel rail pressure.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to fuel pressure control valve 2 (on the high-pressure fuel pump) for signs of physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections.

   Use a multimeter to measure the resistance in the control valve circuit. High resistance readings confirm an open circuit.

   Test the wiring harness for any shorts to ground or breaks between the ECU and the pump solenoid.

   Verify that the ECU pins and main harness connections are clean and that the ECU is sending the proper voltage commands to the valve.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the engine compartment around the high-pressure fuel pump. Avoid any contamination to the fuel high-pressure pump or the suction control valve during removal, as dirt will cause severe damage to the HPCR system.

   Access the Valve

   The high-pressure fuel pump does not necessarily have to be removed from the engine to change the suction control valve. However, if the engine compartment is heavily contaminated, OEM manuals recommend removing the pump completely to clean and service it on a bench.

   Remove the Faulty Valve

   Disconnect the electrical connector for solenoid 2 and unbolt the suction control valve from the fuel pump body.

   Install the New Valve

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new suction control valve with clean diesel fuel and install it into the pump. Torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

   Reassemble and Prime

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Prime the fuel system to remove any air.

   Clear Codes

   Reset the ECU to clear the 001348.05 error code. Start the engine and verify that the fuel pressure regulates properly and the code does not return.
