John Deere 1387.04 – PTA (Power Train / Transmission Module IVT): Low Voltage On Transmission Oil Lube Pressure Sensor
Issue description
This diagnostic trouble code is generated when the control software detects that the voltage at the lube oil pressure sensor is too low. This typically indicates a short to ground in the sensor circuit. The controller will limit or completely disable the function of the transmission until the error is corrected.

Check the cause
Inspect the entire sensor circuit for any signs of short circuits to ground.
Examine all wiring and connectors associated with the transmission oil pressure sensor for signs of damage, wear, or disconnection.
Verify the sensor is receiving the correct 5-volt reference voltage from the power supply harness.
Measure the sensor's voltage output with a multimeter to determine if it is shorted internally.
Repair steps
Locate the Sensor
Locate the transmission oil lube pressure sensor on the IVT transmission housing.
Disconnect and Inspect
Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor. Inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent pins.
Test the Harness
Using a multimeter, verify that the harness is supplying the correct 5V reference and has a good ground back to the PTA module.
Remove the Faulty Sensor
If the harness tests good, the sensor is internally shorted. Unthread the faulty transmission oil pressure sensor from the transmission housing. Be prepared to catch a small amount of hydraulic/transmission fluid.
Install the New Sensor
Thread the new OEM pressure sensor into the port and tighten to the specified torque.
Reconnect and Clear Codes
Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn the key on and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 001387.04 fault code.
Test Drive
Start the tractor, check for leaks at the sensor fitting, and verify that full transmission functionality has been restored.
