Check the cause

  1. Verify that no heavy objects (tools, bags, coolers) have been left on the operator seat overnight or for extended periods.

  2. Turn the ignition off and then back on to reset the timer and clear the timeout error.

  3. Visually check the seat switch and its wiring harness for physical damage, wear, or pinched wires that could cause a short to ground.

  4. Verify if the control software is updated to the latest version to improve handling of switch signals.

Repair steps

  1. Clear the Seat

Remove any items from the seat cushion.

  2. Cycle Power

Turn the machine's ignition key to the OFF position, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back to the ON position to see if the code clears.

  3. Test the Switch

If the code remains active, disconnect the operator presence switch harness under the seat. Use a digital multimeter to test the switch for continuity. Unoccupied seat should be OPEN (no continuity); Occupied seat should be CLOSED (continuity).

  4. Inspect the Harness

If the switch tests fine, check the machine-side wiring harness for a short circuit. A wire rubbed bare against the seat suspension frame can cause the circuit to ground out.

  5. Replace the Switch

If the switch reads CLOSED while the seat is empty, the internal spring/contacts have failed. Replace the operator presence switch.
