John Deere 1532: Reel Speed Actuator Not Functioning in Decrease Speed Mode

Issue description

The Reel Speed Decrease driver has detected an open, short, over voltage, or over temperature condition. The Header Control Unit is unable to actuate the Reel Speed Actuator in the decrease speed mode until the fault condition is resolved.

Check the cause

  1. Reel Speed Actuator

  2. Reel Speed Decrease driver

  3. Electrical connections to the Reel Speed Actuator

  4. Voltage levels in the circuit

  5. Temperature conditions around the Reel Speed Actuator

Repair steps

  1. Inspect

    Inspect the Reel Speed Actuator for visible damage or signs of overheating.

  2. Test

    Test the electrical connections to the Reel Speed Actuator for continuity and proper voltage.

  3. Check

    Check the temperature around the Reel Speed Actuator and the Reel Speed Decrease driver for abnormal heat.

  4. Clear

    Once the fault condition is resolved, clear the fault code and verify that the Header Control Unit can actuate the Reel Speed Actuator in the decrease speed mode.
