John Deere 1549.03 – ATC: B131 Heater Valve (Adjusting Motor) / Water Valve Motor Circuit Voltage High

The control unit measures excessive voltage at the motor connecting leads (specifically leads 2016 and/or 2027) for the heater water valve (B131). The high voltage reading indicates that the circuit is shorted to a supply lead, which can disable or limit the operation of the heater valve to prevent overvoltage damage, resulting in a loss of cabin temperature control.

   Inspect the wiring harness at the heater valve (B131), specifically leads 2016 and 2027, for chafing, melted insulation, corrosion, or improper connections that could cause a short circuit to a power supply lead.

   Use a multimeter to measure voltage levels at leads 2016 and 2027 to confirm the presence of a short to a power source.

   Check the ground circuit to ensure it is not open and does not have excessive resistance.

   Repair the short

   If a short circuit is found in the wiring harness during the diagnostic phase, repair or replace the damaged wires/connectors.

   Replace the valve

   If the wiring harness tests fine, the internal adjusting motor of the heater valve (B131) has likely failed and shorted internally. Replace the heater control valve assembly.

   Calibrate the new valve

   Calibrate the new water valve motor after installation. If you skip this step, the system will throw a secondary code: ATC 001549.13 (Water Valve Motor Not Calibrated).

   Test and clear codes

   Clear the stored 001549.03 fault code from the ATC module. Run the tractor, turn the in-cab heater valve all the way to 'hot', and verify that the valve motor operates correctly and regulates the cabin temperature.
