John Deere 158.04 – ATC: Switched Supply Voltage Low
Issue description
The switched battery supply voltage to the control unit has dropped below the normal operating threshold (typically less than 9.0 volts). This low voltage condition can impair the functionality of the module, leading to unresponsive climate controls or system shutdowns.

Check the cause
Inspect the area around the batteries and the alternator for any visual signs of damage, loose connections, or accumulated debris.
Test the battery voltage and the alternator output to ensure a healthy charging voltage.
Check the specific fuses providing switched power to the ATC module and cab load centers (commonly F24, F42, F44, or F51).
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the ATC roof module for chafed wires, corrosion at the connectors, or poor ground connections.
Repair steps
Clean and Secure Power Sources
Disconnect the batteries and clean the terminals. Reconnect them, ensuring they are tight to prevent voltage leaks or current drops.
Replace Blown Fuses
If any of the cab/ATC fuses are blown, replace them with the correct amperage fuse. If the fuse blows again immediately, trace the circuit for a short to ground.
Repair Wiring
If chafed wires or corroded pins are found at the ATC module connector, repair the wiring harness or replace the damaged connector pins.
Replace the Alternator (if applicable)
If the alternator is outputting less than 13.5 volts while the engine is running, replace the alternator and re-test the system.
Replace the ATC Module
If the batteries, alternator, fuses, and wiring all test within specification (providing > 9.0V to the module connector) but the code persists, the internal circuitry of the ATC module has failed and the module must be replaced.
Clear Codes
Cycle the key switch or use a diagnostic tool to clear the stored fault codes and verify the repair.
