John Deere 161.03 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU) / Transmission Module IVT (PTA): Transmission Input Speed Sensor High Voltage

   Inspect the B61 Sensor connection to ensure it is securely connected and examine the sensor body for physical damage or wear

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the sensor (specifically lead 6075) for any signs of damage, disconnection, chafing, or wear

   Perform an operational check/circuit test on the B61 sensor to ensure it is providing accurate readings to the TCU

   Ensure that the TCU/PTA control unit software is up-to-date, as updates may include improvements in sensor signal processing

   Locate sensor

   Locate the B61 Transmission Input Speed Sensor on the transmission housing.

   Inspect wiring harness

   Disconnect the sensor's wiring harness and thoroughly inspect the pins for corrosion or bent terminals.

   Test voltage and repair wiring

   Test the voltage on lead 6075. If a short to power or open circuit is found in the harness, repair or replace the damaged wiring/connectors as necessary.

   Remove defective sensor

   If the wiring is intact and the high voltage reading is due to an internal sensor failure, remove the defective B61 sensor.

   Install replacement sensor

   Install the replacement transmission input speed sensor and securely reconnect the wiring harness.

   Clear code and test-drive

   Clear the 000161.03 fault code from the PTA/TCU module and test-drive the tractor to verify that the transmission speed reads accurately and the code does not return.
