   Inspect the B61 sensor connection to ensure it is securely connected and examine the sensor body for physical damage or wear.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the sensor (specifically lead 6075) for signs of damage, disconnection, or wear that could cause a short to ground.

   Perform a circuit and operational test on the B61 Transmission Input Speed Sending Unit to verify if it is providing accurate readings or has failed completely.

   Ensure that the TCU/PTA control unit software is up-to-date, as updates can include improvements in sensor signal processing.

   Locate sensor

   Locate the B61 Transmission Input Speed Sensor on the transmission housing.

   Disconnect harness

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor.

   Remove breather

   Remove the transmission breather (if it obstructs access on your specific model).

   Remove sensor

   Remove the transmission input speed sensor cap screw and pull the old sensor out of the housing.

   Insert new sensor

   Insert the new B61 transmission input speed sensor.

   Install cap screw

   Install and tighten the sensor cap screw. Torque specification: 27 N·m (20 lb-ft).

   Reinstall breather

   Reinstall the transmission breather vent (if removed). Torque specification: 14 N·m (124 lb-in).

   Reconnect the electrical harness and clear the 000161.04 fault code from the PTA/TCU module.
