John Deere 1713.02 – EPC: B111 Sensor for Hydraulic Oil Filter, Fault.

This code is generated when the controller detects an impossible logic state from the hydraulic filter pressure switches. Specifically, it triggers if the filter alarm Level 1 switch (350 kPa / 51 psi) is OPEN, but the filter alarm Level 2 switch (450 kPa / 65 psi) is CLOSED for more than 3 seconds while the hydraulic oil temperature is above 28°C (82°F). Because Level 2 cannot physically be reached without Level 1 also being closed, the system flags a circuit fault. This typically indicates a short to a supply lead somewhere in the sensor circuit or a failed sensor.

   Inspect the wiring harness from the B111 Hydraulic Oil Filter Sensor back to the EPC module for chafed wires touching a power source or melted wire loom.

   Perform a sensor pin test by disconnecting the B111 sensor and using a multimeter to check for voltage on the signal return wires with the key ON. Voltage present indicates a shorted harness.

   Test the B111 sensor for continuity to see if the Level 2 switch is internally shorted closed while the Level 1 switch remains open.

   Check the service history and condition of the hydraulic filter, as a severely clogged filter can damage the pressure switch diaphragm.

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to protect the EPC module during electrical repairs.

   Locate the B111 pressure switch, which is threaded into the hydraulic oil filter housing.

   Replace the Hydraulic Filter
