John Deere 1745.14 – TIQ: Initial Start-Up Checks Are Not Complete

The control software has not completed all of its boot routines during initialization. This incomplete initialization leads to issues with CAN Bus communication, resulting in limited vehicle functionality and inhibited vehicle motion. In most cases, this is an operator-induced condition caused by moving the shift lever or reverser out of the Park position before all controllers have finished booting up.

   Verify with the operator if the tractor was shifted out of Park immediately after turning the key switch, before the dash finished loading

   Perform a power cycle test to see if the code clears by allowing the system to fully boot

   Inspect the CAN Bus wiring network between the TIQ module and the Engine Control Unit (ECU) for loose, damaged, or corroded connectors

   Check for software corruption or pending updates for the TIQ and ECU using John Deere Service ADVISOR

   Re-initialize the Control Software

   Ensure the vehicle is on a flat, stable surface. Return the Shift Lever / Reverser to the 'Park' position. Turn the key switch OFF, wait 10-15 seconds, and turn the key switch back ON. Wait for all boot routines and start-up checks to complete on the display before attempting to move the shift lever. This resolves the issue in the vast majority of cases.

   CAN Bus Network Repair

   If the code remains active after a proper power cycle, locate the TIQ Transmission Controller. Disconnect the harness and inspect the pins for pushed-out terminals, moisture, or corrosion. Verify proper grounding and shielding of the CAN Bus cables to rule out electrical interference. Repair or replace any damaged wiring.

   Software Update / Module Replacement

   Connect diagnostic tooling and flash the latest software updates to the TIQ and ECU. If the TIQ module is internally failed and cannot complete its boot sequence or communicate on the CAN bus, replace the module.
