John Deere 1877.09 – BLC (Basic Load Center): CAN BUS Message Cannot Be Received, Information from HCC Control Software

Check the cause
Check for accompanying CAN bus communication codes (e.g., PDU or CCU codes) that might indicate a broader network failure rather than an isolated HCC issue.
Verify power and ground to the HCC by checking the fuses, relays, and ground connections supplying the module.
Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness and connectors between the BLC and the HCC for corrosion, backed-out pins, chafing, or rodent damage.
Verify that the software versions on the BLC and HCC are compatible and up to date to rule out software glitches causing CAN timeout errors.
Repair steps
Disconnect Battery
Always disconnect the battery before servicing CAN bus wiring or control modules to prevent electrical spikes.
Harness Repair
If diagnostic testing reveals high resistance or a break in the CAN High or CAN Low lines between the BLC and HCC, repair the damaged wire or replace the affected harness section.
Module Replacement
If the wiring, power, and grounds are intact, the fault lies internally within a module. If the HCC is completely unresponsive to a diagnostic tool, replace the Hitch Control Controller (HCC). If the HCC is communicating fine with other modules but the BLC refuses to read it, replace the Basic Load Center (BLC).
Reprogramming / Calibration
If a module is replaced, use John Deere Service ADVISOR (or a compatible tool like Jaltest) to flash the correct software payload to the new module and perform a Hitch Control Unit calibration.
Clear Codes and Test
Reconnect the battery, clear the inactive 001877.09 code, and cycle the rear hitch to ensure the BLC is receiving the HCC messages.
Parts you might need
(3)Basic Load Center (BLC) / Main Control Module
OEM Part number varies heavily by exact tractor chassis and cab configuration; must be ordered via VIN/Serial Number
Hitch Control Controller (HCC) / Hitch Control Center
OEM Part number varies by exact tractor chassis; must be ordered via VIN/Serial Number
CAN Bus Wiring Harness / Connectors
Generic CAN bus repair pigtails or specific chassis harnesses depending on where the break is located
