1877.19

John Deere 1877.19 – BLC: Rear Hitch Network Data Error

Issue description

The hitch control system has detected a fault state because it is receiving an error message or invalid data over the CAN bus from another control unit. This FMI 19 network data error is typically a cascading fault triggered by a primary failure elsewhere in the system, prompting the system to request a check for other error codes.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110M
  • 6120M
  • 6130M
  • 6145M
  • 6155M
  • 6175M
  • 6195M
  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R

  • 6090RC
  • 6100MC
  • 6100RC
  • 6110MC
  • 6110RC

Check the cause

  1. Scan all modules (ECU, CCU, TEC) for other active codes, as this is usually a cascading fault.

  2. Identify root causes such as faults in hitch position sensors, draft pins, hydraulic valves, or CAN bus communication timeouts.

  3. Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness, terminating resistors, and physical connectors at the BLC module for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect a compatible John Deere Service ADVISOR diagnostic tool to the machine's diagnostic port.

  2. Pull DTCs

Pull all active and stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.

  3. Diagnose primary faults

Do not attempt to replace the BLC module first. Diagnose and repair the component or wiring issue indicated by the other fault codes found in the system scan.

  4. Calibrate hitch

If a primary sensor (like a draft sensor or hitch potentiometer) was replaced, perform the necessary hitch calibration procedures via the diagnostic tool.

  5. Clear codes and test

Clear all fault codes, cycle the key power, and operate the rear hitch through its full range of motion to verify the 001877.19 code does not return.

  6. Replace BLC module

If the code persists, no other codes are present, and the CAN bus wiring tests perfectly, replace or reprogram the BLC module as it may have an internal failure.
