John Deere 2003.07 – TIA (Tractor-Implement Automation) / Cab Control Unit (UIC): Incorrect CAN BUS Message, Engine Speed and Transmission Input Speed

A detected deviation of more than 100 rpm between the engine speed and the transmission input speed that lasts for over 5 seconds, causing the control software to limit or disable transmission functions.

   Perform an operational check on the Engine Speed Sensor and the Transmission Input Speed Sensor (B61) to ensure they are broadcasting accurate RPM data

   Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness connecting the Engine ECU, Transmission TCU, and Cab Control Unit (UIC) for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose pins

   Verify there is no actual mechanical slipping occurring between the engine flywheel and the transmission input shaft (e.g., failing torsional damper or input clutch)

   Inspect Wiring

   Locate the wiring harnesses connecting the Engine ECU, Transmission TCU, and the Cab Switch Module/UIC. Disconnect the harnesses and check for moisture, corrosion, or pushed-out pins. Clean and secure all connections.

   Test Sensors

   Using a multimeter or John Deere Service ADVISOR, monitor the live data for both Engine Speed and Transmission Input Speed.

   Replace Faulty Sensors

   If either sensor drops out, reads erratically, or shows a false discrepancy of >100 rpm while the tractor is running, replace the faulty sensor.

   Address Mechanical Issues

   If both sensors are reading accurately and the wiring is intact, the transmission must be inspected for mechanical input slip causing the true RPM deviation.

   Clear and Test

   After repairs, clear the TIA/UIC fault codes. Test drive the tractor under load for more than 5 seconds to ensure the 002003.07 code does not return.
