Check the cause

Repair steps

  1. Restart and Verify

    Turn off the engine, wait a few moments, and restart. If the code clears and does not return, no further action is needed.

  2. Replace Blown Fuses

    Locate the fuse panel. Inspect fuses F6 and F35. If blown, replace them with the correct amperage fuse. If the new fuse blows immediately upon startup, you have a dead short in the transmission wiring harness.

  3. Inspect Wiring and Connections

    If fuses are intact, physically inspect the CAN Bus wiring harness linking the transmission control unit (TCU/EPC) to the reporting module (e.g., the SFA or ICU). Look for chafed wires, loose pins, or corroded connectors.

  4. Secure and Repair

    Repair or replace any damaged wiring and connectors. Clean out any corrosion in the harness plugs using electrical contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease.

  5. Software Update

    Ensure that both the transmission controllers and the reporting modules are flashed with the latest software versions to optimize data transmission.

  6. Module Replacement

    If wiring, power, and grounds all test perfectly, the internal circuitry of the reporting module (like the SFA unit) or the transmission controller may have failed and will require replacement.
