John Deere 2005.09 – SFA: CAN Bus Communication Error - ACU Message Missing

   Power cycle the tractor to see if the CAN bus timeout error is a temporary communication glitch that resolves after a key cycle.

   Check specific fuses that power the communication modules (Fuse F13 for IVT/AutoPowr transmissions or Fuse F35 for PowrQuad Plus transmissions).

   Visually inspect the CAN bus wiring and connectors between the SFA (Front Chassis Module) and the ACU (Armrest Control Unit) for signs of corrosion, loose pins, or physical damage.

   Turn off the tractor and locate the main fuse panel.

   Ensure the machine is powered down before inspecting the electrical system.

   Inspect and test Fuse F13 or F35.

   Check Fuse F13 for IVT/AutoPowr transmissions or Fuse F35 for PowrQuad Plus transmissions. Replace the fuse if it is blown.

   Restart the engine.

   If the code clears, the issue was likely a blown fuse or a temporary communication drop.

   Test Communication.

   If the code returns, shift the transmission in and out of Neutral/Park to see if the ACU communication re-establishes.

   Inspect the Harness.

   Access the wiring harness connecting the SFA module to the ACU. Disconnect the harness and clean the contacts with electronic contact cleaner. Check for continuity across the CAN High and CAN Low wires.

   Dealer Intervention.
