John Deere 2006.13 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): VIN Information Mismatch
Issue description
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) programmed into the Engine Interface Control (EIC) software does not match the VIN programmed into the Engine Control Unit (ECU) software. This code is generated exclusively on vehicles equipped with an immobilizer system, and the control software's reaction is to severely limit the vehicle's functionality.

Check the cause
Use John Deere diagnostic tools to read the programmed VIN in both the EIC and the ECU to confirm the mismatch.
Check the CAN Bus network for open circuits, signs of a short circuit, or corrosion at the connectors.
Evaluate the condition and functionality of the CAN Bus terminating resistors to ensure they are properly configured and not faulty.
Monitor the integrity and continuity of the CAN Bus signal between the EIC and ECU using diagnostic tools.
Repair steps
Address Wiring Issues
Repair or replace any identified faulty components, such as damaged wires, corroded connectors, or faulty CAN Bus terminating resistors.
Reprogram/Synchronize Modules
If the wiring is intact, use John Deere Service ADVISOR to reprogram or synchronize the EIC and ECU so that the VIN information matches across both modules.
Reset and Verify
After repairs or reprogramming, reset the ECU to clear the error code. Test the system to ensure that communication has been fully restored, the immobilizer is satisfied, and full vehicle functionality has returned.
