Check the cause

  1. Verify the VINs entered in both the EIC and ECU against the vehicle's official registration documents or chassis plate to confirm accuracy.

  2. Ensure that all related systems, especially the immobilizer system, are configured correctly according to manufacturer specifications.

  3. Check if there are pending software updates for both the EIC and ECU, as discrepancies can arise from software glitches.

Repair steps

  1. Synchronize VIN Information

Connect the John Deere Service ADVISOR diagnostic tool to the machine. Navigate to the EIC and ECU programming menus and update the VIN in either or both systems so that they match exactly.

  2. Update Firmware

If the VINs are correct but the issue persists, flash/update the firmware of both the EIC and ECU to ensure compatibility and proper synchronization.

  3. Diagnose Immobilizer System

If synchronization fails, examine the immobilizer system for any internal faults or wiring issues that could be causing the VIN mismatch error, and address them.

  4. Document and Test

After addressing the issue, clear the fault codes, document all actions taken, and perform a full system test (cycle the key and start the engine) to verify that the vehicle operates correctly without any security restrictions.
