John Deere 2007.09 – AIC / TIQ / ICC / BLC / EIC: RPT Message Missing / Incorrect CAN BUS Message, Information from RPT Control Software
Issue description
There is a data transfer problem between the receiving control unit and the RPT (Remote Power Train) control software. The reception of one, several, or all of the CAN messages transmitted by the RPT module is intermittent or non-existent, causing the system to degrade or limit functionality.

Check the cause
Inspect CAN Bus Wiring and Connections for loose, damaged, pinched, or corroded wires and connectors between the receiving module and the RPT control module.
Verify Communication using a diagnostic tool (like John Deere Service ADVISOR) to monitor CAN Bus messages and ensure proper communication between the modules, checking for failures in data packets.
Check for Electrical Interference and eliminate sources that may disrupt CAN Bus communication. Ensure proper grounding and shielding of the CAN Bus cables.
Assess Software Health by checking if there are any available software updates or patches for the RPT and the receiving control module (AIC/TIQ/ICC).
Reboot/Reset the control units involved to clear any transient errors or glitches in the system.
Repair steps
Safety First
Power down the machine, turn off the key switch, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Modules
Locate the RPT module and the receiving module (e.g., if the code is AIC 002007.09, access the Armrest Interface Control Unit by removing the CommandARM bottom cover. Note: Use a grounding strap as the AIC board is easily damaged by static electricity).
Harness Testing
Disconnect the harness connectors at both modules. Using a digital multimeter, test the CAN High and CAN Low wires for continuity end-to-end. Next, test for shorts to ground and shorts to power.
Check Terminating Resistors
With the battery disconnected, measure the resistance across the CAN High and CAN Low pins on the diagnostic connector. It should read approximately 60 ohms. If it reads 120 ohms, one terminating resistor is faulty or there is an open circuit. If it reads near 0 ohms, the CAN wires are shorted together.
Repair Wiring
Repair any damaged wiring. If a connector pin is corroded, replace the pin or the connector housing. If the harness is severely damaged, splice in a CAN Bus extension/repair harness.
Reassembly & Update
Reconnect all modules and the battery. Connect your diagnostic tool and flash the latest software payloads to both the RPT and the receiving module.
Clear and Test
Clear the stored 002007.09 fault code. Start the machine and operate the transmission/armrest controls to verify that the code does not return and full functionality is restored.
