John Deere 2049.09 – XSC: Communication System, CAB Message Missing

The XSC control software is failing to receive necessary CAN Bus messages from the OIC (Operator Interface Console) control software.    Cycle the tractor's key switch to restart the vehicle and reset CAN messages.

   Check fuses related to the CAB, OIC, and communication systems (specifically F22, F30, and F35).

   Inspect the CAN Bus network wiring between the cab (OIC) and the steering module (XSC) for loose connections, corrosion, or pinched wires.

   Verify the overall power supply and grounding to the OIC control system to rule out intermittent voltage drops.

   Restart the Tractor

   Turn off the ignition, wait a few moments, and restart the tractor. Check the CommandCenter™ display to see if the 002049.09 code moves from "Active" to "Stored".

   Replace Blown Fuses

   If the code remains active, locate the fuse panel and test the communication/cab fuses (F22, F30, F35). Replace any blown fuses and retest.

   Clean and Reseat Connectors

   Disconnect the wiring harness connectors at the OIC (Operator Interface Console) and the XSC (AutoTrac Steering Module). Inspect the pins for corrosion or pushed-back terminals. Clean with contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and securely reconnect them.

   Software Update

   If the wiring is intact, the issue may be a software glitch. Connect a John Deere Service ADVISOR tool to check for and install any available software updates for both the OIC and XSC control software.

   Module Replacement

   If all wiring, fuses, and software are verified and the OIC is still failing to communicate with the XSC, the OIC module or the XSC module itself may have an internal hardware failure and will require replacement and reprogramming by a dealer.
