John Deere 2140.09 – AIC: No CAN Message Received From Source Address 140 / AIC Message Missing
Issue description

Check the cause
Check Power and Ground to the AIC: If the Armrest Interface Control module loses power, it will stop broadcasting CAN messages. Check the cab load center fuses and verify voltage at the AIC connector.
Inspect CAN Bus Wiring: Check the CAN bus harness between the AIC and the module logging the code (e.g., the SCC at the rear chassis). Look for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or corroded connector pins.
Check for Related Codes: Look for low-voltage codes (e.g., AIC 000158.04 - Armrest supply voltage low) which might explain why the module shut down.
Monitor CAN Traffic: Use John Deere Service ADVISOR to ping the AIC (Source Address 140) to see if it is communicating on the network at all.
Repair steps
Cycle Power
Turn the key switch off, wait for the modules to power down completely, and restart the tractor. Sometimes a simple power cycle restores communication.
Repair Wiring
If diagnostic checks reveal damaged CAN bus wiring or poor pin fitment at the AIC or SCC connectors, repair the harness or replace the damaged pins.
Replace the AIC Module
If power, ground, and CAN bus continuity are all verified as good but the AIC still fails to communicate, the Armrest Interface Control unit has failed internally and must be replaced.
Software Update & Calibration
After replacing the AIC, connect John Deere Service ADVISOR to flash the latest software to the new module and calibrate the armrest controls (throttle, SCV levers, hitch controls).
Clear Codes
Clear the 002140.09 code from the SCC (and any other modules that logged it) and test machine operation.
