2145.06

John Deere 2145.06 – ICC: ICC Control Unit Supply Circuit Fault

Issue description

The instrument cluster is detecting an improper voltage supply or a short in its power circuit, which can stem from a failing alternator, a weak battery, or damaged wiring supplying the dash.

Applies to these machines

  • 5085E
  • 5090E
  • 5090EL
  • 5100E
  • 5075M
  • 5085M
  • 5090M
  • 5095M
  • 5095MH
  • 5100M
  • 5100MH
  • 5100ML
  • 5105M
  • 5105ML
  • 5115M
  • 5115ML

Check the cause

  1. Verify System Voltage: Test the battery resting voltage and the alternator output voltage while the machine is running.

  2. Inspect the Supply Circuit: Check the wiring harness leading to the back of the Instrument Cluster (ICC) for chafing, pinched wires, or shorts to ground.

  3. Check Connections: Inspect the ICC harness connector for loose pins, corrosion, or moisture intrusion.

  4. Test Key Switch & Relays: Verify that the key switch and main power relays (Group 30AA circuits) are delivering a clean, uninterrupted 12V supply to the ICC.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the negative battery cable before servicing the electrical system to prevent further shorts.

  2. Repair Wiring

If the diagnostic checks reveal a short to ground or a broken wire in the supply circuit, repair the damaged section of the harness or replace the affected connector.

  3. Address Charging System

If the alternator was found to be overcharging or failing, replace the alternator and clear the codes.

  4. Replace the ICC

If the wiring, battery, and alternator all test within specification, the internal power supply circuit of the Instrument Cluster itself has likely failed. Remove the dash trim, disconnect the main harness, and swap in a new ICC.

  5. Reprogramming

Note that installing a new ICC may require a John Deere dealer to perform a "Configuration and Calibration" using Service ADVISOR to sync the new dash module with the Engine Control Unit (ECU) and Chassis Control Unit (CCU).

  6. Verify Repair

Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and verify that the code does not return.
