John Deere 2145.09 – RLC: Incorrect CAN BUS Message, Information from FCC Control Software

There is a data transfer problem on the CAN bus network where the reception of CAN messages transmitted by the FCC (Front Console Controller / Dash Module) is intermittent or non-existent.

   Cycle power to the tractor to see if the communication fault is a temporary glitch that clears on a restart.

   Inspect all CAN bus connectors between the RLC (Cab Roof) and the FCC (Front Console/Dash) for signs of damage, loose pins, pushed-out terminals, or corrosion.

   Inspect the wiring harness routing from the front console up to the cab roof for any signs of wear, chafing, damage, or rodent chewing.

   Use a CAN bus analyzer or a digital multimeter to test the network for intermittent connections, proper terminating resistance (typically 60 ohms across CAN High and CAN Low), and data transfer issues.

   Ensure there are no aftermarket electronics or sources of electrical interference near the CAN bus network causing communication drops.

   Verify the current software versions of both the RLC and FCC modules.

   Disconnect Battery

   Always disconnect the battery before repairing CAN bus wiring or replacing modules.

   Repair/Replace Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks reveal compromised wiring or connectors between the RLC and FCC, secure the loose connections, replace damaged connector pins, or splice/replace the damaged section of the CAN bus harness.

   Update Control Software

   If the wiring is intact, connect the John Deere Service ADVISOR tool and update both the RLC and FCC control software to the latest OEM versions to address any potential CAN message processing bugs.

   Module Replacement

   If wiring is verified good and software updates do not resolve the issue, one of the modules has suffered an internal hardware failure. You will need to determine if the FCC is failing to broadcast or if the RLC is failing to receive, and replace the faulty module.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use the diagnostic tool to clear the 002145.09 code. Verify that the code does not return during operation.
