Issue description
A data transfer problem on the CAN bus network where the receiving module is intermittently or completely failing to receive expected CAN messages from the transmitting control software, usually pointing to a physical wiring issue or a software/hardware failure.

Check the cause
Inspect all CAN bus connections between the PTF and PAP modules for secure installation and damaged, pushed-back, or corroded pins.
Verify the integrity of all wires in the CAN bus network, looking for chafing or pinch points along the chassis harness.
Use a diagnostic tool like John Deere Service ADVISOR to analyze CAN bus traffic for high error rates or abnormalities.
Check that the PAP and PTF control software versions are up to date.
Repair steps
Connect Diagnostic Tool
Hook up John Deere Service ADVISOR to verify PTF 002155.09 is active. Check if the PAP module is online and if there are other CAN bus codes present.
Power Down
Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during testing.
Harness Inspection
Locate the PTF (Front Chassis Module) and PAP (Power Accessory Point) modules. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors at both modules.
Clean and Reseat
Inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or damage. Clean with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and firmly reseat the connectors.
Continuity & Resistance Testing
Perform a continuity test on the CAN High and CAN Low wires between the PTF and PAP modules. Measure the terminating resistance of the CAN bus network (it should read approximately 60 ohms). Repair or replace the harness if there is an open or short circuit.
Software Update
Reconnect battery power. If the wiring is intact, use the diagnostic tool to flash/update the software on both the PTF and PAP modules.
Module Replacement
Clear the fault codes and test operate the machine. If the code returns and the wiring harness is verified good, the fault lies within the hardware of the modules. You will need to replace the transmitting module (PAP) or the receiving module (PTF).
