John Deere 2161.09 – TIQ, SCC, or TID: Incorrect CAN BUS Message, Information from SV1

   Inspect CAN Bus Wiring: Trace the wiring harness between the TIQ/SCC module and the SV1 module for chafed wires, pinch points, or exposed insulation.

   Check Connectors: Disconnect the harness at the SV1 module and inspect pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-back pins.

   Verify Power and Ground: Check unswitched and switched power supply to the SV1 module. A voltage drop below 9.0V will cause the SV1 to drop off the CAN network.

   Test CAN Bus Integrity: Use a multimeter to test for open or short circuits in the CAN High and CAN Low lines. Verify that the CAN bus terminating resistors are intact (approximately 60 ohms with battery disconnected).

   Check for Interference: Ensure proper grounding of the CAN Bus cables to eliminate electrical interference.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the rear SCV stack area to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system or electrical connectors.

   Address Wiring Issues

   If the diagnostic checks revealed broken wires or corroded connector pins, repair the harness using OEM-approved weather-pack connectors and wiring splices.

   Replace the SV1 Module

   If power, ground, and CAN continuity are all verified but the SV1 still does not communicate, relieve all hydraulic pressure, unbolt the electronic control unit/actuator from the SV1 slice (or remove the entire SV1 valve assembly), install the new unit, and torque all mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

   Reassemble and Calibrate

   Reconnect the wiring harness and the battery. Connect a diagnostic tool (like John Deere Service ADVISOR) to clear the 002161.09 fault code and perform an SCV calibration procedure so the module can learn the new SV1 valve's parameters.
