Issue description

There is a data transfer problem between the SCO control software and the Electronic Selective Control Valve 12 (E-SCV XII). The controller is expecting a status message from the E-SCV XII on the CAN Bus network, but the message is missing, suggesting a failure in the CAN Bus wiring, a loss of power to the valve, or a failure of the transmitting control software inside the valve's stepper motor. When this fault is active, the control software will limit or completely disable the functionality of E-SCV XII.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect all CAN Bus wiring harnesses running between the SCO (Front Chassis Module) and the E-SCV XII for signs of physical damage, chafing, loose connections, or corrosion.

  2. Verify that the E-SCV XII stepper motor is receiving proper supply voltage (typically a minimum of 9V is required; low voltage will cause the module to drop off the CAN network).

  3. Use a multimeter or oscilloscope to test the CAN High and CAN Low lines at the E-SCV XII connector to ensure network integrity.

  4. Gently wiggle the wiring harness while monitoring the live data on a diagnostic tool (like John Deere Service ADVISOR) to see if the connection drops.

    If any shorts, breaks, or corroded pins were found during the diagnostic checks, repair the wiring harness or replace the damaged connector pigtail. Clean and securely reconnect the harness to the E-SCV XII.
