Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Inspect CAN Bus Wiring: Check all CAN Bus wiring harnesses routing from the Front Chassis Module (SCO) to the E-SCV XV for signs of chafing, damage, loose connections, or corrosion.

  2. Test CAN Bus Communication: Use a multimeter or diagnostic tool to test the CAN Bus network for proper communication voltage (typically ~2.5V on CAN High and CAN Low) and verify continuity.

  3. Verify E-SCV XV Control Unit: Ensure the E-SCV XV control unit is receiving proper power and ground.

  4. Attempt Recalibration: Try to recalibrate the E-SCV unit via the John Deere Service ADVISOR tool. If it fails to communicate or calibrate, the unit itself is likely faulty.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

    Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the CAN network.

  2. Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

    If the diagnostic checks revealed damaged wiring or corroded connector pins at the SCV harness, clean the contacts, repin the connector, or splice in a repair harness (e.g., OEM wiring harness RE343006 is often used for SCV updates).

  3. Replace the E-SCV / ECU (If Wiring is Intact)

    If the wiring and CAN voltages are good but the module remains unresponsive, the SCV Electronic Control Unit or the E-SCV Stepper Motor has failed internally.

  4. Remove the Faulty Valve

    Relieve hydraulic pressure. Disconnect the electrical connector from the front of the E-SCV XV. Unbolt the valve/actuator assembly from the hydraulic manifold.

  5. Install the New Valve

    Mount the replacement E-SCV or SCV ECU. Torque bolts to OEM specifications and reconnect the CAN electrical harness.

  6. Clear and Calibrate

    Reconnect the battery. Use John Deere Service ADVISOR to clear the 002175.09 fault code and perform a mandatory calibration procedure for the new Selective Control Valve.
