   Verify the operator is using the correct Immobilizer Key (chipped key) rather than a conventional key.

   Check for accompanying immobilizer-specific codes (e.g., EIC 521192.12, EIC 521214.11) indicating internal failure.

   Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness between the Immobilizer Control Unit and the EIC module for opens, shorts to ground, or high resistance.

   Verify the Immobilizer Control Unit is receiving proper operating voltage and has a clean ground connection.

   Operator Error Reset

   If a conventional key was used by mistake, insert the valid chipped key into the ignition and turn it to the 'ON' position, but DO NOT START the engine. Wait at least 3 seconds for the immobilizer system to authenticate the key, then start the engine.

   Harness Repair

   If diagnostic testing reveals damaged wiring or corroded pins at the immobilizer console connector, repair the wiring harness or replace the connector pigtail.

   Module Replacement

   If the wiring is intact and the unit has power/ground but still fails to broadcast Source Address 185 on the CAN bus, replace the Immobilizer Control Unit.

   Reprogramming

   If the Immobilizer Control Unit is replaced, or if new keys are required, a John Deere dealer must use Service Advisor to reprogram the immobilizer system so the EIC recognizes the new components.
