John Deere 2350.06 – VLC / FLC: Low Beam Light Circuit Current Problem

The control module has detected an abnormally high electrical current draw on the low beam headlight circuit. The underlying condition is typically a short circuit to ground (earth) in the wiring harness, a faulty/shorted headlight bulb, or an internal failure within the control module itself.

   Restart the engine to verify if the active code reappears, as it may be a temporary communication error.

   Disconnect the low beam headlight bulbs on both sides and turn the headlights on to isolate the fault. If the code changes to an 'Open Circuit' code (e.g., 2350.05), the issue is a shorted bulb. If the high current code remains, the short is in the harness or module.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the front headlights for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation grounding against the chassis.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery ground cable to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.

   Access the Headlights

   Remove any grilles or bezels required to access the rear of the front headlight assemblies.

   Inspect Connectors

   Unplug the electrical connectors at the low beam bulbs. Check for melted plastic, burnt pins, or water intrusion, which can cause a short across the terminals.

   Test the Harness

   Using a digital multimeter, check for continuity between the low beam power wire and a known good chassis ground. If continuity exists (with the bulbs unplugged and the switch off), trace the harness back toward the VLC/FLC to locate and repair the shorted wire.

   Replace the Bulbs

   If the wiring tests good, the bulbs are internally shorted. Replace the low beam headlight bulbs.

   Reassemble and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the bulbs and battery. Turn the key on and activate the low beams. Acknowledge and clear the stored fault codes from the CommandCenter or monitor display. Verify the lights operate normally without tripping the code.
