John Deere 2352.03 – BLC / RLC: Low-Beam Headlights on Cab Frame, External Voltage
Issue description
The control module is detecting unexpected voltage on the low-beam headlight circuit (specifically at the grab rail/cab frame headlight pin) when the circuit is not being commanded on, typically caused by a voltage backfeed or a short-to-power within the wiring loom.

Check the cause
Verify the symptom by turning the headlights off and using a multimeter to check for voltage at the grab rail headlight connector
Disconnect the wiring harness from the BLC or RLC module and check the specific low-beam output pin on the harness side for voltage to isolate a backfeed in the loom
Visually inspect the wiring loom running up the cab frame to the grab rail headlights for pinch points, melted insulation, or chafing against the chassis
Inspect the connectors at the headlights and the module for corrosion or water ingress that could bridge pins and cause voltage bleed-over
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent accidental shorts during repair.
Expose the Loom
Remove the interior cab trim panels or exterior covers necessary to access the wiring harness routing from the BLC/RLC to the grab rail headlights.
Locate the Short
Trace the specific low-beam wire. Look for the point of failure identified during the diagnostic checks (e.g., melted wires fused together).
Repair the Wiring
Cut out the damaged section of the wire. Splice in a new section of wire of the same gauge using weather-resistant heat-shrink butt connectors.
Re-loom and Secure
Wrap the repaired section in high-quality automotive friction tape or split-loom tubing. Secure the harness with zip ties away from pinch points to prevent recurrence.
Test
Reconnect the battery, clear the BLC/RLC fault codes via the diagnostic monitor, and cycle the headlights to ensure the code does not return.
