John Deere 2358.05 – BLC / RLC: High-Beam Headlights or Worklights Current Too Low

The control software has registered that the electrical current at the output to the high-beam headlights or worklights on the cab frame is too low, indicating an open circuit.

   Power Cycle: Turn off the tractor and cycle the key switch, as many lighting codes can be corrected by cycling the power

   Bulb Inspection: Remove the affected high-beam or cab frame worklight bulb and visually inspect the filament for breaks (most common cause)

   Wiring and Connector Check: Inspect the wiring and connectors associated with the high-beam headlights on the cab frame for open circuits, pulled wires, damaged insulation, or heavy corrosion

   Voltage/Power Supply Test: Use a multimeter to verify that the power supply to the headlight socket is stable and within the specified 12V or 24V range when the lights are turned on

   Access the Light Assembly

   Safely access the high-beam headlights or worklights located on the cab frame or loader frame.

   Replace the Bulb

   Disconnect the wiring pigtail from the back of the light assembly. Remove the retaining ring or clip and pull the bulb out. If the bulb is blown, install a new replacement bulb (do not touch the glass of a halogen bulb with bare hands).

   Clean the Connectors

   If the bulb was not blown, spray the wiring harness connector with electrical contact cleaner to remove any dirt or light corrosion. Ensure the pins are not pushed back into the plastic housing.

   Repair the Harness (If Necessary)

   If you find a broken wire or melted connector during your diagnostic checks, splice in a new connector pigtail or repair the broken wire using weather-sealed heat-shrink butt connectors.

   Test the System

   Reconnect the light assembly, turn the key to the ON position, and turn on the high beams/worklights. Verify that the light illuminates and the 002358.05 fault code clears from the CommandCenter display.
