John Deere 2358.06 – BLC / RLC: High-Beam Headlights or Work Lights Current Too High
Issue description
The control software registers that the current at the output to the high-beam headlights or work lights on the cab frame is too high. This condition typically indicates a short circuit to ground or a component drawing excessive amperage.

Check the cause
Inspect the headlight circuit wiring and connectors for pinched wires, damaged insulation, or exposed copper shorting to the frame.
Disconnect the cab frame headlights and test them independently to ensure the internal bulb or LED driver hasn't failed.
Verify the power supply to the lighting circuit is stable and inspect module pins for corrosion or melting.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent further electrical damage.
Isolate the Short
Disconnect the work lights/high beams at the cab frame harness. Reconnect the battery and clear the code. Turn the lights on. If the code does not return, the short is inside the light assembly itself. If the code does return, the short is in the wiring harness between the BLC/RLC module and the light connector.
Repair Wiring
If the harness is damaged, repair or replace the compromised wiring section. Ensure all splices are sealed with heat-shrink tubing to prevent moisture ingress.
Replace the Light Assembly
If the light assembly is internally shorted, unbolt it from the cab frame bracket, plug the new OEM replacement into the factory harness, and bolt it securely into place.
Clear Codes and Test
Clear the BLC/RLC codes via the cab monitor or diagnostic tool, turn on the high beams/work lights, and verify the lights function without triggering the 002358.06 code.
