John Deere 2368.03 – CLC, FLC, RLC, or VCU: Left Turn Lights Short to Power

The control software has registered that the voltage or current at the output for the left-hand turn signal/flasher circuit is too high, indicating that the circuit is shorted to a power source.

   Inspect the left front and left rear turn signal bulbs and sockets for internal shorts, melted plastic, or corrosion that could bridge the power circuit.

   Visually inspect the wiring and connectors running from the controller to the left turn signal lights for damaged insulation, pinched wires, or exposed wires rubbing against a live power wire.

   Test the controller output using a multimeter to measure the voltage at the controller's output pin for the left turn signal. If voltage is present when the switch is off, the short to power is in the harness. If the harness tests good, the controller itself may have an internal short.

   Verify that the turn signal switch and the 4-way hazard flasher switch are not damaged or sending conflicting data to the controller.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn the key switch to the OFF position and disconnect the battery to prevent further electrical damage.

   Isolate the Circuit

   Disconnect the left turn signal light assemblies (both front and rear) and the trailer socket connections.

   Test for the Short

   Reconnect the battery and turn the key ON. Use a multimeter to check for voltage on the left turn signal signal wire. If voltage is still present with the lights disconnected and the switch off, the short is in the wiring harness.

   Repair the Harness

   Trace the harness back to the cab module (CLC/FLC). Locate the area where the wire insulation is compromised and shorting to a power source. Repair the wire using proper splicing techniques and heat-shrink tubing, or replace the affected harness section.

   Replace Damaged Components

   If the harness is intact but a light socket is melted or internally shorted, replace the turn signal light assembly.

   Reassemble and Clear Codes

   Reconnect all light assemblies and the battery. Turn the machine on, test the left turn signal and hazard lights, and verify that the 002368.03 code changes from active to stored (or clears entirely).
