John Deere 2368.03 – Dash Module (FCC), Cab Load Controller (CLC) / Cab Controller (CAB), Flex Load Controller (FLC), or Vehicle Control Unit (VCU): Left Turn Lights Circuit Short To Power

Issue description

The control module monitoring the lighting system has detected a higher-than-expected voltage on the left turn signal circuit (either the front left or rear left extremity light). This is typically caused by a short circuit to a power source, a faulty bulb, or a damaged wiring harness.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the left front and left rear turn signal bulbs for an internal short or incorrect bulb type

  2. Visually trace the wiring from the left turn signal housings back to the control module, looking for pinched wires, melted insulation, or rubbing against a live power source

  3. Disconnect the turn signal harness connectors and inspect for water intrusion, corrosion, or bent pins bridging the circuit to a power pin

  4. Use a digital multimeter to test the left turn signal circuit for continuity to power with the turn signal switch turned off

Repair steps

  1. Safely Park the Machine

    Park on a level surface, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

  2. Bulb Replacement/Verification

    Remove the lenses from the left front and left rear turn signal assemblies. Remove the bulbs and inspect the filaments and bases. If a bulb is blown, blackened, or internally shorted, replace it with the correct OEM specification bulb.

  3. Harness Isolation Test

    If the bulbs are good, disconnect the left turn signal harness from the main chassis harness. Clear the fault codes via the diagnostic monitor. If the code changes from 002368.03 (Short to Power) to 002368.05 (Open Circuit), the short is located in the light assembly or the pigtail harness.

  4. Repair Wiring

    If the short is in the main harness, trace the wire back to the FCC, CLC, or FLC module. Repair any damaged sections of the wire using weather-sealed heat shrink connectors, or replace the affected harness section.

  5. Module Testing

    If the wiring tests perfectly fine and the short to power is originating directly from the module's output pin, the Dash Module (FCC) or respective load controller has an internal fault and must be replaced.

  6. Final Verification

    Reassemble all components, turn the key to the ON position, and activate the left turn signal. Verify the lights flash correctly and the 002368.03 code moves to a Stored or Inactive state.
