Issue description

The control software registers that the electrical current at the output to the left turn signal lights is too high, typically exceeding the fuse rating. This indicates a short circuit to ground in the output circuit, which could be caused by a wiring short, a faulty/melted bulb socket, or an internal issue within the control module.

Check the cause

  1. Visual Bulb Inspection: Check the condition of all left-hand side turn signal bulbs (front, rear fender, and roof warning lights). A failed bulb filament can sometimes short across the internal posts.

  2. Accessory Check: Remove any unauthorized or aftermarket accessories (such as extra flood lights or hazard lights) spliced into the turn signal circuit, as these can draw excess current and trigger the code.

  3. Wiring & Connector Continuity: Inspect all associated wiring and connectors for the left turn signal circuit. Look for chafed wire insulation rubbing against the machine's frame (short to ground).

  4. Cycle the System: Restart the engine and cycle the left turn signal switch to see if the active Diagnostic Trouble Code reappears. Sometimes, the code can be corrected by resetting the communication messages upon restart.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

    Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery ground to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.

  2. Inspect and Replace Bulbs/Sockets

    Remove the lenses for the left turn signals. Inspect the bulbs and the bulb sockets. Look for corrosion, water intrusion, or melted plastic that could bridge the power and ground contacts. Replace any damaged bulbs or sockets.

  3. Trace the Harness

    If the bulbs and sockets are in good condition, trace the wiring harness from the left turn signal assemblies back to the CLC (Cab Load Center). Pay special attention to pinch points near the fender mounts, cab pivot points, or areas where debris might have damaged the harness.

  4. Repair Wiring

    If a short to ground is found (e.g., exposed copper touching bare metal), cut out the damaged section of wire, solder in a new piece of appropriately gauged wire, and seal it with heat-shrink tubing.

  5. Test the Circuit

    Reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position and activate the left turn signal. Verify that the lights flash normally and that the 002368.06 code changes from "Active" to "Stored" (or clears entirely).

  6. Module Replacement (Worst Case)

    If the wiring harness tests perfectly for continuity and has no shorts to ground, the CLC module itself may have an internal short on that output pin. This requires replacing the CLC, which must be done and reprogrammed by an authorized John Deere dealer.
