237.02

John Deere 237.02 – Multiple (OIC, CCU, ECU, ACU, ICU/ICC): VIN Security Data Conflict / VIN Information Mismatch

Issue description

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or Product Identification Number (PIN) stored in a specific control module does not match the VIN being broadcasted by other control units on the machine's CAN bus network. This typically happens if a module was recently replaced, swapped, or if there is a data inconsistency.

Check the cause

  1. Verify module history: Check if the OIC, CCU, or any other control module was recently replaced, swapped from another machine, or reprogrammed.

  2. Check for CAN Bus Codes: Look for other active diagnostic trouble codes indicating missing CAN messages (e.g., codes ending in .09 or .31). If a module cannot communicate properly, it cannot verify the VIN.

  3. Inspect wiring: Check the CAN network wiring harness and connectors at the affected module for damage, loose pins, or corrosion that could interrupt data transfer.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect the John Deere Service ADVISOR tool to the machine's diagnostic port.

  2. Read active codes

Read all active codes. If CAN communication codes are present, troubleshoot the CAN bus wiring first.

  3. Identify logging module

Identify the specific module logging the 000237.02 code (e.g., OIC or CCU).

  4. Navigate to programming menu

Navigate to the programming/configuration menu for that specific module.

  5. Perform EOL programming

Perform an 'End of Line' (EOL) programming or payload configuration.

  6. Enter or synchronize VIN/PIN

Manually enter or synchronize the correct Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) / Product Identification Number (PIN) into the module so that it matches the master VIN stored in the rest of the tractor's network.

  7. Save and clear codes

Save the configuration, clear the diagnostic trouble codes, and cycle the key power.

  8. Verify repair

Start the tractor and verify that the 000237.02 code does not return and full functionality is restored.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Operator Interface Control (OIC) Module

Only required if the module has suffered an internal memory failure and will not accept or retain the VIN programming via Service ADVISOR.

  • Chassis Control Unit (CCU)

Only required if the module has suffered an internal memory failure and will not accept or retain the VIN programming via Service ADVISOR.

  • Engine Control Unit (ECU)

Only required if the module has suffered an internal memory failure and will not accept or retain the VIN programming via Service ADVISOR.
