John Deere 237.12 – ICC (Instrument Cluster Controller): VIN Security: More Than One ECU Address Claimed

There is a mismatch in the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) security data across the machine's control units, or multiple Electronic Control Units (ECUs) are attempting to claim the same network address. The tractor will typically operate with limited capabilities when this code is active.

   Power Cycle: Turn the ignition switch off and back on to force the modules to re-handshake.

   Verify VIN Security Settings: Access the control software settings via a diagnostic tool to ensure that the VIN security function is properly enabled.

   Inspect Recent Software Updates: Determine if a software update or reprogramming process was recently attempted, as interrupted updates are a primary cause.

   Attempt Vehicle Recovery

   Restart the engine to see if the ECUs successfully resolve the address claim conflict on startup.

   Re-enable VIN Security

   If the code remains active, use John Deere Service ADVISOR (or a compatible diagnostic tool) to manually re-enable the VIN security function in the ICC/CCU.

   Reprogram Control Software

   If the VIN security function cannot be enabled or the configuration data remains corrupted, you must reprogram the control software (ICC/CCU) using the correct and updated software version.
