John Deere 2372.05 – CLC (Cab Load Center) / VLC (Vehicle Load Center): Brake Light Circuit Current Problem

The control unit monitoring the lighting system has detected that the brake light circuit is open or drawing less amperage than expected. This condition is almost always caused by a burned-out brake light bulb, a disconnected wiring harness, a corroded bulb socket, or a faulty ground connection in the brake light circuit.

   Visual Bulb Inspection: Check condition of light bulb.

   Isolate Trailer Wiring: If you are towing an implement or trailer, unplug the 7-pin trailer connector to verify if the code still exists to isolate the tractor's internal circuit from a potential wiring fault on the implement.

   Power Cycle: Restart the engine to verify if the active Diagnostic Trouble Code reappears.

   Park the tractor safely, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

   Remove the lens cover from the rear tail/brake light assemblies.

   Remove the brake light bulbs and inspect the internal filaments.

   If a filament is broken or the glass is blackened, replace the bulb with a new OEM-equivalent bulb.

   Pro-tip: It is recommended to replace bulbs in pairs, as the other side is likely near the end of its lifespan.

   If the bulb appears intact, inspect the bulb socket for rust, dirt, or corrosion.

   Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner if necessary.

   Check the wiring harness leading to the tail light assembly for pinched wires, chafing, or loose ground connections.

   Reinstall the bulbs and lenses. Start the tractor and press the brake pedal to test the lights.

   Acknowledge and clear the code on the CommandCenter display (if applicable).

   If the code persists after bulb replacement and wiring inspection, the CLC/VLC module may require dealer-level diagnostic testing.
