John Deere 2382.05 – BLC or RLC: Clearance Light, License Plate Light or Tail Light, Current Too Low

The control software has registered that the current at the output to the clearance lights, license plate light, or tail light is too low. This condition means the circuit is open, typically caused by a blown light bulb, a disconnected wire, or high resistance in a connector.

   Visual Bulb Inspection: Turn on the work lights/park lights and visually identify which clearance, tail, or license plate light is failing to illuminate.

   Inspect the Circuit: Check the wiring and connectors associated with the clearance lights on the cab frame for signs of open circuits.

   Check Connections: Look for disconnected, loose, or corroded connections at the light housing and along the harness routing back to the BLC/RLC module.

   Verify Power Supply: Ensure the power supply to the clearance lights is stable and within the specified range, inspecting for any issues that could cause a drop in current.

   Access the Bulb

   Remove the lens or housing for the specific clearance, tail, or license plate light that is not illuminating.

   Test/Replace the Bulb

   Inspect the bulb filament. If the bulb is blown, replace it with a new OEM-equivalent bulb.

   Inspect the Harness

   If the bulb is intact and tests good, trace the wiring harness from the light fixture back to the BLC or RLC module.

   Repair Wiring

   Repair or replace any compromised wiring, broken wires, or corroded connector pins that are causing high resistance or an open circuit.

   Clear the Code

   After the repair is made, cycle the tractor's power (turn the key switch off, then back on) to allow the module to re-check the circuit current and clear the active fault code.
