John Deere 2382.06 – RLC: Front Clearance and Warning Light Current High (Eur Only)

The control software has registered that the current at the output to the front clearance/warning lights on the cab frame is too high. This indicates that the circuit is drawing excessive amperage, which is typically caused by a short circuit to ground (earth) in the wiring harness, or a faulty bulb/LED assembly that is internally shorted.

   Visually check the wiring and connectors associated with the clearance and warning lights on the cab frame. Look for pinched wires, chafing against the cab frame, or melted insulation that could cause a short to earth.

   Disconnect the front clearance/warning lights one at a time. If the high-current fault changes to a low-current/open-circuit fault (such as RLC 002382.05) when a specific light is unplugged, the fault is isolated to that specific light assembly.

   Test the individual clearance lights with a multimeter to ensure they are drawing the proper current and are not internally shorted.

   Ensure the power supply from the RLC to the clearance lights is stable and within the specified voltage range.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and cycle the key switch to ensure the RLC is powered down before disconnecting components.

   Locate the Short

   Based on your diagnostic isolation, locate the exact point of failure.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If the harness is chafed and shorting to the cab frame, cut out the damaged section of wire, solder in a new section, and seal it with heat-shrink tubing. Secure the harness with zip ties away from sharp metal edges.

   Replace the Light Assembly (If Applicable)

   If a light assembly is internally shorted, unbolt the faulty clearance/warning light from the cab frame, disconnect the pigtail, and plug in the replacement unit.

   Clear and Verify

   Turn the battery power back on, cycle the key switch, and turn on the work lights/park lights. Verify that the RLC 002382.06 code is no longer active and that the lights function normally.
