John Deere 2407.05 – BLC / RLC: Outer Worklights on Rear of Roof, Current Too Low

The control module has detected that the electrical current (amperage) drawing on the specific pin that powers the rear roof outer work lights is below the expected threshold when the lights are commanded on. This condition almost always indicates an open circuit, which is most commonly caused by a blown light bulb, but can also be triggered by a disconnected wire, a broken ground, or high resistance in a harness connector.

   Power cycle the tractor (turn off, cycle key, turn back on) to see if the code clears

   Visually inspect the rear roof work lights to identify which outer bulb is failing to illuminate

   Remove the non-working bulb and test the filament for continuity using a multimeter (blown bulb cause)

   Use a multimeter at the light housing connector to check for 12V power and a solid ground when the light switch is activated

   Inspect the wiring harness leading from the roof light back to the BLC/RLC module for corroded pins, loose connections, or pinched wires (high resistance cause)

   Turn off the machine

   Turn off the machine and remove the key to ensure no power is flowing to the lighting circuits.

   Access the light housing

   Safely access the rear roof outer work light. Depending on the housing style, remove the retaining screws or unclip the lens cover.

   Replace the bulb

   Disconnect the bulb from its wiring pigtail. If the bulb is blown, replace it with a new OEM-spec bulb (do not touch the glass of a new halogen bulb with bare fingers, as oil can cause premature failure).

   Clean connectors

   If the bulb was not blown, spray the electrical connector with a dedicated contact cleaner to remove any corrosion. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the connector pins to prevent future moisture intrusion.

   Reassemble and Test

   Reinstall the bulb and lens cover. Turn the tractor key to the ON position, activate the work lights, and verify that the light illuminates and the 002407.05 fault code moves to a stored or inactive state.
