2407.06

John Deere 2407.06 – BLC: Outer Worklights on Rear of Roof, Current Too High

Issue description

The controller has detected an abnormally high electrical current draw on the circuit powering the rear roof outer worklights. This condition is typically caused by a short to ground (earth) in the wiring harness, a failed worklight assembly, or an incorrect/faulty bulb drawing excessive amperage.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110M
  • 6120M
  • 6130M
  • 6145M
  • 6155M
  • 6175M
  • 6195M
  • 6090MC
  • 6090RC
  • 6100MC

  • 6110RC

Check the cause

  1. Check the rear roof outer worklights for physical damage, melted housings, or water ingress.

  2. Disconnect the rear roof outer worklights at their pigtail connectors and turn the lights on to isolate the short. If the code changes to an 'Open Circuit', the short is in the worklight assembly or bulb. If the 002407.06 code persists, the short is in the wiring harness.

  3. Inspect the cab roof wiring harness for chafing, pinched wires, or exposed copper touching the metal cab frame (short to earth).

  4. Verify that an incorrect, excessively high-wattage aftermarket bulb wasn't recently installed.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Wiring Repair

If the harness is chafed against the cab frame, cut out the damaged wire section, splice in new wire using weatherproof heat-shrink butt connectors, and wrap the harness in protective loom.

  3. Worklight Replacement

Unbolt the mounting bracket hardware for the faulty rear roof outer worklight. Disconnect the 2-terminal connector. Swap the faulty bulb, or mount the new replacement worklight assembly. Plug in the 2-terminal connector and secure the mounting bracket.

  4. Clear and Test

Reconnect the battery, turn on the worklights, and verify via the dash/monitor that the BLC 002407.06 code has cleared and the lights function normally.
