John Deere 2630.16 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Charge Air Cooler Outlet Temperature High (Moderately Severe)
Issue description
The temperature of the air exiting the charge air cooler (intercooler) or entering the EGR system is higher than the expected normal operating range. When this code is active, the system will automatically limit engine power (derate) and prompt the operator to reduce engine speed and load to prevent engine damage.

Check the cause
Check the cooling system (radiator and charge air cooler) for external debris, dirt, or plugging
Verify the engine coolant level is at the MAX fill line
Check if the low-temperature coolant pump is air-locked, which causes low coolant flow through the Low Temperature Cooling (LTC) circuit
Flow test the low-temperature circuit using the John Deere flow tester tool (KJD10431)
Test the EGR Fresh Air Temperature Sensor (Sensor B32) and its wiring harness for shorts to ground, shorts to voltage, or open circuits
Repair steps
Clean the Coolers
Thoroughly clean the exterior fins of the charge air cooler and radiator to ensure proper ambient airflow.
Bleed the LTC Cooling System
Fill the coolant reservoir to the 'MAX' line. Open the bleed valve and run the engine without a load for 5 minutes at 1700 RPM. Shut the engine off and wait for 5 to 10 minutes before closing the drain valve. Check the coolant level. If it has dropped below the 'MAX' line, repeat this bleeding procedure until the coolant level remains steady at the 'MAX' line.
Test and Replace the Coolant Pump (If Necessary)
If the code returns after bleeding, use the KJD10431 flow tester to verify coolant flow. If the flow rate is below specification for your engine RPM, replace the low-temperature circuit coolant pump.
Replace the Temperature Sensor
If the cooling system flow is adequate and the coolers are clean, use John Deere Service Advisor to test the Inlet Air / EGR Fresh Air Temperature Sensor. If the sensor is reading out of range or has failed, replace it.
Clear Codes
Cycle the tractor's power, clear the ECU codes, and run the machine under a medium-to-heavy load to verify the repair.
