John Deere 2797.03 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Injector High Voltage Supply #1 Out of Range High
Issue description
The controller has detected a voltage on the fuel injector supply circuit #1 that exceeds the expected normal operating range. This usually points to a short circuit to a power source (such as a short to 12V or 24V battery voltage) within the injector wiring or the injector itself.

Check the cause
Connect John Deere Service Advisor to confirm the active code and pinpoint which specific injector bank (Supply #1) is affected.
Examine the injection valve circuitry. Look for frayed wires, rubbed-through insulation, or pinched wires in the injector harness that could cause a short to a power source.
Inspect the ECU and injector connectors for corrosion, moisture, or loose/bent pins.
Use a multimeter to measure circuit resistance and perform a continuity test on the suspected injector harness. Specifically, test for continuity between the injector supply wire and the battery positive terminal to confirm the short to power.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the machine's battery to prevent electrical damage during the repair.
Isolate the Short
Disconnect the injector harness from the ECU and the injectors. Test the harness independently to see if the short to power is in the wiring or internal to a fuel injector.
Repair/Replace Wiring
If the multimeter shows a short in the wiring harness, repair the broken/shorted section of the wire or replace the entire injector wiring harness to ensure continuity.
Replace Injector (If Applicable)
If the wiring tests good but the short is present when an injector is plugged in, the fuel injector has an internal short and must be replaced.
Reassemble and Restore Power
Reconnect all harnesses and restore battery power.
Reset and Test
Reset the ECU using a diagnostic tool to clear the stored 002797.03 code. Start the engine and conduct functional tests under load to confirm the repair has resolved the issue and the code does not return.
